Kingdom Records, Inc./ Bernie McLean Scholarship

Scholarship Application

The Kingdom Records Bernie McLean Scholarship is awarded to deserving Valley Kingdom Ministries International members with musical aspirations, financial need, and demonstrated commitment to Christ and His church. This scholarship provides financial assistance to those with a concentration on music or attending a music college or university.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

The Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Kingdom Records Scholarship Committee after the deadline date for submittal of all information. Each applicant must meet ALL eligibility requirements and submit a completed application with supporting information to be considered. After all applications have been reviewed, the Scholarship Committee will evaluate and select scholarship recipient(s) and will notify them by phone and/or email.

Note:

  1. All recipients will be asked to sign a consent letter authorizing their College Institutions to release student’s transcript.

  2. The selection criteria involve applicant’s financial need, letters of reference, essay submittal, and pertinent application information.

  3. Applicant is ineligible to be awarded the scholarship more than once in a lifetime.


CRITERIA FOR APPLYING

In order to participate in the application/ selection process students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Applicant must be accepted to or attend an accredited music college or university or pursue a degree in the area of music at an accredited music college or university. 

  2. Must be a member of Valley Kingdom Ministries International for a minimum of one year at the time of application.

  3. Must submit a recent video audition of their musical abilities not more than 3 minutes in length and not more than 6 months old.

  4. Must be admitted to a degree-seeking program (Applicant must provide an official letter of acceptance from a music college/university or proof that they are majoring in or plan to major in music.)

  5. Must submit a double-spaced typed essay of not more than two pages in length answering the following question: 

    1. Why is pursuing a degree in music is important to you?

  6. Must submit a double-spaced typed personal statement of no more than one page in length telling us about yourself, your greatest strength and how it can be used to help win other young people to God? Also include your hobbies, interests, goals in life, etc...

  7. Must submit a senior picture or professional headshot (no selfies). (The picture will be used for publicity purposes, if applicant receives scholarship award.)

 

HOW TO SEND INFORMATION TO SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE

  1. Applicant must submit application online and upload all accompanying required documents and information. (Scholarship committee will not accept application materials that are sent separately, dropped off at the church/office, etc. All application packets must be submitted online.)

  2. Applicant must submit the completed application packet by July 28, 2024. NO EXCEPTIONS

    Upon awarding of the Scholarship, payment will be made to the school within thirty (30) days.  If school payment information is not provided within four (4) months of award, the scholarship will be void and unused funds will be returned to the scholarship fund.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN WILL I BE NOTIFIED THAT I HAVE/HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD?

Students will be notified of their acceptance or denial by August 2, 2024. Students receiving a scholarship must be present or send a representative to receive the award during Sunday Morning Worship on August 4, 2024.  Any unclaimed scholarships will be returned to the Scholarship Fund.

 

HOW DO I ENSURE THAT I WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP?

Turn in all the appropriate documents and meet the eligibility requirements. Applications will be immediately denied if applicants submit incorrect documents or do not meet the eligibility requirements.  Please note: Applicants will not be contacted if they submit the incorrect documents. Applicants submitting incorrect information will receive a denial letter by email.
